Place: The Concert Hall of The Royal Danish Music Academy, Copenhagen
SCENATET is happy to present the debut concert of Danish composer Martin Stauning, graduating from The Royal Danish Music Academy.
In Martin Stauning’s work poetic sincerity and the absurd exist alongside each other as part of the same overall musical expression. His works include conceptual, performative elements and demonstrates high musical quality.
The first part of the concert will be conventional in the most positive meaning of the word, primarily consisting of works for string quartet. The second part will be something entirely different, and the audience might question whether they entered the right concert hall or had one too many drinks during the intermission. In this part of the concert SCENATET presents a number of larger ensemble pieces and performative works with singers.
Originally educated and working as a dancer at The Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen, Martin Stauning is a graduate of The Royal Danish Academy of Music and a pupil of Hans Abrahamsen, Bent Sørensen and Niels Rosing-Schow.
The debut concert kicks off a collaboration between SCENATET and Martin Stauning, culminating in a large, conceptual musical and dramatic production in 2018.
