Gamla hverfið mitt/Mit gamle kvarter
Time: 17.00
Place: Astrid Noacks Atelier, Copenhagen N
In collaboration with Astrid Noacks Atelier SCENATET will premiere a new work Gamla hverfið mitt/Mit gamle kvarter (My Old Neighbourhood) by Icelandic composer Hafdis Bjarnadottir.
Hafdis Bjarnadottir was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 17 August 1977. She started playing electric guitar at the age of 12 with the focus on rock and folk music, playing with bands and writing her own music. She graduated in jazz guitar performance from the FIH School of Music, Iceland, in 2002. Hafdis finished her bachelor’s degree in contemporary composition from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2007, followed by a master’s degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Copenhagen in 2009.
Hafdis Bjarnadottir used to live for one year at outer Nørrebro, Copenhagen. Now she is returning to make sound recordings of her old neighbourhood.
In the piece Hafdis Bjarnadottir uses sound recordings from places at Nørrebro, where different types of people meet and have fun. From these recordings she finds tonality, texture, shades and rhythm as a base for working with this as compositional material.
To draw out these elements she uses SCENATET to play five duets in five different rooms with the recordings from Outer Nørrebro.
The concert is supported by The Danish Arts Foundation and the Danish Agency for Culture.
