SCENATET ventures into an exciting collaborationon on a new musical theatre performance with the Greek-German composer, artist and writer Manos Tsangaris.

For two evenings, we invite you to join us in this site-specific performance to rethink the relationship between everyday life and staging, transforming our everyday surroundings into a dramatic setting. Viewers are bystanders as much as actors, they stare through a window into a space with an ensemble of instruments where a composed light-show takes place, while at times they find themselves travelling in the work of text, sound and light, intimately, almost privately; and at other times they eavesdrop on the happenings in the space on headphones

Every scene of the City Pieces (Window Piece) is connected to one another like a spider web weaving across stations, one has to keep himself busy from one point to the other to gain insights into what is obscured from view. The actual work exists in a vacuum between the events, the space where nothing is.

Through site specific performances the piece will take place in the middle of everyday life, enter into well-known situations and create moments of magic. Audience and by-passers will experience a composition of movements, light, colours, music and speech, framing and staging the day-to-day life in new ways.

This work is part of the cycle, LIVING SPACES, which concerns with the four fundamental elements of life: love, sickness, aging, death. Its preceding parts took place in Berlin and Athens, which were about death and sickness respectively. This Hong Kong edition will look at love in its broadest sense.

Tsangaris is known for his original work where sound, word and drama merges into previously unknown formats. He shows an exceptional ability to affect and move the audience with artistic means that leaves the audience with all senses wide open.

City Pieces (Window Piece) will be premiered in Hong Kong as a part of the event programme at Connecting Spaces, a Hong Kong/Zürich based art lab initiated by Zürich University of the Arts.
