At KLANG – Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival SCENATET and DR UnderholdningsOrkestret / The Danish National Chamber Orchestra will present a new, symphonic version of Me Quitte by the Danish composer Niels Rønsholdt.
As soloists in the concert you can experience Sven Micha Slot, piano, Frederik Munk Larsen, guitar, Niels Rønsholdt, voc and Kira Skov, voc.
Originally Me Quitte was envisaged in the intimate chamber-setup, but for Rønsholdt it has long been a dream also to place it in a large format. The cooperation with the The Danish National Chamber Orchestra is perfect for this piece because of the connection to the entertainment tradition. Me Quitte is turning the tradition of crooners like Sinatra and Brel, in front of an orchestra or big band, upside down and undermines its vitality and potency.
The singers will sing the French text backwards, as well as the orchestra makes a fantastic opportunity to work with the backwards sound and phrasing in he instrumental part. – although it is also part of the idea, that sometimes the audience will ‘forget’ the demonic and awkward and by carried away by the front.
