In the closing concert at SPOR Festival SCENATET presents three new works by composers who all contribute to the new departure that has emerged in the past decade among the younger generation of Danish composers.
Program:
Simon Løffler: D (8″) Danish Premiere
Christian Winther Christensen: Nachtmusik [ohne eine aufdringliche Nachtstimmung] (8″) Danish Premiere
Juliana Hodkinson: Angel View (30″) Danish Premiere
D is a new work by Simon Løffler. Last year Simon Løffler took part in a project in Sct. Petersburg entitled “listening to architecture- composing spaces”. His response to this was to create a wall, both within the music and concretely between stage and the audience. A wall that all communication has to travel through.
Christian Winther Christensen’s Nachtmusik [ohne eine aufdringliche Nachtstimmung] comes as a continuation from the piece FESTMUSIK [mit Japanischem geist und Deutschem akzent]. A kind of ironic occasional music. Christian Winther Christensen wrote the work only in the nights between November-January 2010-2011. A winter with a lot of silence coming from the dense snow.
Juliana Hodkinson‘s Angel View is an assemblage of urban and musical debris, somewhere between a wordless live radio play, enacted film soundtrack and instrumental theatre.
Chiseling cement, falling debris, scraping cutlery, breaking glass, criss-crossing cables, squealing tram-wheels, an upturned bicycle, a grid of cables, a travel souvenir, a shop window, a revolving carousel, a brace of monkeys, a wall under siege, a dining table laid for an ancestral dinner – it is a sonic bazaar.
After the concert SPOR will host a closing reception in the foyer at Granhøj Dans.
